Sarah McQuade, AICP, joined the Hall County Planning Department in February 2014 and has worked in various positions including Senior Planner, Principal Planner, and Planning Manager. She currently holds the position of Director of Planning and Development in which she oversees daily activities and long-range planning initiatives of a robust department involving several divisions: Building Inspections; Business License; Development Review; Gainesville-Hall Metropolitan Planning Organization; Geographic Information Systems; Long Range Planning; and Marshal's Office. Additionally, Sarah works closely with the Hall County Planning Commission and Board of Commission; providing technical assistance to the board members and guiding applicants through the rezoning, special use, and variance applicant process.
Prior to beginning with Hall County, Sarah worked as a Regional Planner with the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission. In this role she assisted regional planning departments with community engagement, the implementation of Safe Routes to School programs, and the development of state mandated planning documents. Sarah is a certified planner holding a master’s degree in Environmental Planning and Design and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology, both from the University of Georgia. Sarah is a member of the Georgia Association of Zoning Administrators (GAZA), Georgia Planning Association (GPA), and the American Planning Association (APA).
