Q1: What type of underlayment is required for these roofs?
A1: Section E.3 Specifications, states: “Install a new layer of adhesive-backed, rubberized asphalt ‘Ice and Water Shield’ underlayment to the structure before any metal is installed. Surface preparation and installation of material is per manufacturer’s specifications.”
Q2: The bid spec calls for a Peterson/PAC-CLAD product but other manufacturers have said that they are getting requests for their less expensive products. Will alternate manufacturer’s products be accepted?
A2: Section E.6, Specifications, states to provide a specific type of Peterson/PAC-CLAD, Snap-Clad product or material that is “equal or similar”. Alternate products may be offered but should be identified in Section K, Exceptions to and Variations from Specifications. A manufacturer’s specification sheet must accompany the bid submission clearly showing the proposed product meets or exceeds the listed specification.
Q3. The bid spec calls for the Contractor to provide color samples of the roofing material. Has the County decided on a specific color at this time?
A3: Fire Services has previously selected a dark gray colored roofing panel. Please provide examples of this color option with your submission.
Q4: The bid spec calls for gutter leaf/debris guards to be installed on the new six (6) inch gutters. Six (6) gutters do not usually come with leaf guards. Will we be required to manufacturer the guards and, if so, what material should be used?
A4: Gutter guards are to be provided utilizing the same material utilized for the gutters.
Q5: The bid calls for the replacement of all vented soffits with non-vented soffits. Will the new soffits need to match the new roofing material and gutter/downspout color?
A5: The bid spec calls for the replacement material to match the type and color of existing soffit. No color change is required.
Q6: If siding is marked up to install flashing for roof battens, will we be required to repaint the siding?
A6: If siding is marked or damaged during the installation of any roofing component, the Contractor will need to fix and repaint it to bring it back to its original condition and appearance.
3. All other Terms and Conditions remain the same.
