5. Is it too early to send an absentee ballot application for the November 3, 2020 General Election?

No, we are currently accepting applications for the November 3, 2020 General Election.

6. Must I submit an absentee ballot application before each election?

Yes, unless you are elderly and/or disabled. Those voters can submit one application at the beginning of an election cycle and indicate on their application that they are elderly and/or disabled. This will set them up to automatically receive ballots for all elections held during that particular year/cycle. Elderly and/or disabled voters, however, must turn in an application every year at the beginning of an election cycle.

7. What do I do if the absentee ballot I receive has an error?

8. What’s being done to ensure appropriate social distancing and CDC/White House guidelines are being followed?

Voters will be required to stand six feet apart as a measure of social distancing, machines will be disinfected after each voter, hand sanitizer will be available as voters enter and exit the precincts, and the public will be encouraged to wear face masks.

9. How do I make sure my absentee ballot is secure?

Votes will not be readable when inserted into the inner envelope and placed in the return envelope (included with the absentee ballot). Voters can seal their return envelopes with tape, or return them in person to the Hall County Elections Office (2875 Browns Bridge Rd, Gainesville) should they wish to add an additional layer of security. There is also a convenient ballot drop box at this location, right across from the front door, with driver’s side access.

10. Why are people in the same household receiving absentee ballots at different time?

The applications are often separated once they reach the post office, meaning there could be delays with those living in the same household.
