Born in Gainesville, Shelly Echols has lived in the third district of Hall County her entire life. She was raised in the Tadmore community and graduated from East Hall High School. Echols attended Gainesville College and North Georgia College & State University (currently UNG) where she received her Bachelor’s of Science and completed her coursework for her Master’s at Piedmont College.
Echols taught social studies at East Hall and Johnson High School.
Echols started a business in 2007 which plans standards-based educational field trips for schools. Echols also served as Director of Compliance and Director of Human Resources at a motor coach company which employed approximately 75 people.
Echols wants to continue to plan for smart economic development and to be a voice for the rural communities in northern Hall County. She will strive to maintain a healthy relationship with constituents.
Commissioner Echols and her husband, Drew, have two children, Chloe and Cohen, who are still in school at Lakeview Academy and Wauka Mountain. They are active members of Level Grove Baptist Church.
Echols was in the Leadership Georgia Class of 2015 and served as a Leadership Georgia Chair in 2017.
