The Hall County Board of Commissioners will host a celebration next month to mark the grand opening of Hall County’s newest fire station.
The event is set for Saturday, Dec. 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hall County Fire Station 1’s new home, located at 3126 Gillsville Highway in Gainesville.
“Providing a new home for Fire Station 1 after 50 years in its previous location was desperately needed,” Hall County District 3 Commissioner Shelly Echols said. “This new station is truly an asset to this community and to Hall County Fire and Emergency Services. I look forward to seeing citizens being served from this location for years to come.”
Hall County Fire Chief Chris Armstrong said he looks forward to enjoying the event with the public, who are invited to attend free-of-charge, enjoy free food and tour the new facility.
“This will truly be a celebration for Hall County citizens and first responders,” Armstrong said. “This new home provides easier access for emergency vehicles, who will no longer be pulling out into one of this County’s busiest highways during a crisis.”
The new station replaces the old Fire Station 1, which is located approximately three miles away on U.S. 129.
Hussey, Gay, Bell and DeYoung and Sunbelt Builders, Inc. have served as the project’s architect and contractor, respectively. Funding for the $3.3 million project comes from SPLOST VII.
Those wishing to watch the grand opening ceremony virtually may do so via the Hall County website, hallcounty.org, at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11.
