Thanks to a generous donation by the descendants of Col. James Roberts, the Revolutionary War veteran whose historic home sits inside Cherokee Bluffs Park in South Hall, visitors to the historic log cabin can now see even more historically accurate features that could have been there when Col. Roberts owned the home.
Doug and Kaela Smith, direct descendants of Col. Roberts, along with their cousin, Lynn Roberts Ball, donated two replica, 1800s-style rocking chairs to Hall County Parks & Leisure to be placed at the cabin.
The donations were made in memory of Robert Smith, Jr. and Elmina Roberts Smith, Doug Smith's great, great grandparents, who lived in the home with their six children in the 1850s. Elmina Roberts Smith was Col. Roberts' niece.
The donations were also made in memory of Martin V.B. Roberts.
