Platt Park in south Hall County will reopen to the public next week with new features and upgrades, courtesy of Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) funds.
The park, which was closed due to budget cuts in 2011, has been upgraded with pickleball courts, basketball courts, additional picnic tables, and updated playground equipment. The park has also been upgraded to include lighting, gates and new signage, which were all funded by SPLOST VII.
“It is an honor to provide citizens with renewed access to this tranquil recreational venue, which enhances the overall quality of life we enjoy as citizens of Hall County,” said District 1 Commissioner Kathy Cooper.
A drop-in reception to celebrate the reopening of Platt Park will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31 at the park off E. Reed Road in Gainesville.
