Hall County Government's Geographic Information System (GIS) will now include information regarding which property falls into which school attendance zone following the approval of an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) between the County and Hall County School System. "We are pleased to make another key piece of information about various properties available to our public at their fingertips," Hall County Commission Chairman Richard Higgins said. "This will also be beneficial to the school system itself, aiding them in viewing their school attendance zones." The Hall County Board of Education approved the IGA at their voting meeting Tuesday evening. Hall County's GIS Interactive Map Viewer provides parcel and assessment information, including data related to zoning and overlay districts, water and sewer lines, fire districts and fire coverage, voting precincts and a number of electoral districts. The GIS Interactive Map Viewer is available on www.hallcounty.org at the "Find Maps" icon. "We look forward to utilizing this online, user-friendly attendance zone mapping system and making it available to the public at their request in an effort to bring our residents the highest level of service possible," said Nath Morris, chairman of the Hall County School Board. The IGA outlines how GIS staff will receive data from the Hall County Board of Education regarding elementary, middle and high-school attendance zones and how that information will be included in the information available on the County's GIS database. The Board of Education will pay Hall County $2,640 to develop the incorporation of the school data and will continue with annual payments of $1,000 thereafter for ongoing updates and maintenance. The attendance zone data is expected to be fully active online in early 2018. |
