An anonymous donor is sponsoring 20 free cat adoptions during the month of September at the Hall County Animal Shelter.
“We take in as many as 60 or 70 stray cats some days, so this incentive for free adoptions is exactly what we need to find forever homes for these animals,” said Hall County Animal Shelter Director Mike Ledford.
The fee for adoptions is typically $85 and includes necessary medical testing, deworming, microchipping, spaying or neutering and all required vaccinations.
“While the fee will be waived, an adoption application will still be required so that we can make sure we’re providing these pets with the appropriate care needed in order to have the best possible outcome for both the cat and the potential pet parent,” said Ledford.
The waived fee is applicable to public adoptions only and does not apply to rescue groups. The free adoptions will be available to the first 20 applicants or until the month of September ends, whichever comes first.
The Hall County Animal Shelter is located at 1688 Barber Road in Gainesville and is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
