The most heavily-used compactor site in Hall County will be opening in a new location and with updated equipment next week.
The Sardis Road compactor site, currently located at 2801 Sardis Road, will be relocating to a larger location just around the corner on Brackett Drive, a roadway that sees far less traffic than the often-busy Sardis Road.
"The new site will look different than the old one as the compactors themselves are above ground and there are multiple lanes to keep traffic flowing while trash and recyclables are being unloaded,” said Hall County Public Works Director Ken Rearden.
Rearden said the old site, which sat on property leased from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will be regraded and returned to the Corps once vacated.
The new compactor site sits on a 3-acre tract that the Hall County School System donated to the County for this purpose.
A ribbon cutting for the new site, located at 3166 Brackett Drive, is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 8.
