In its continued efforts to stay on the cutting edge of solid waste technology and services, the Hall County Landfill has deployed a new compactor to enhance operations at its facility, located at 1700 Oakbrook Dr. in Gainesville.
The Caterpillar 826K Landfill Compactor is specially designed for landfill operations, allowing operators to spread waste more evenly across the landfill and compact it to reduce volume, while creating more valuable airspace in the process.
“We first deployed the new compactor on June 15, and we’re excited about the increased production and efficiency it provides to the Hall County Landfill and the citizens we serve,” Nate Smith, Hall County Solid Waste Superintendent, said.
The new compactor, weighing just more than 90,000 pounds, comes at a cost of $1.2 million, with funds appropriated from Hall County’s Solid Waste Fund.
