Anyone looking for a fun way to kick off summer can join Hall County Government and the E.E. Butler Steering Committee at the opening of the Butler Park spray ground on Saturday, May 27.
Festivities, which run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., include touch-a-truck and meet-and-greets with Hall County Fire Rescue and the Hall County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, field day games, music and activities hosted by the Newtown Florist Club E.E. Butler Core Steering Committee, free hotdogs and chips served by Hall County Parks and Leisure staff (while supplies last), and on-site food trucks with additional food and drink options for purchase.
“The spray ground is such a great feature for kids in the community looking to cool off during the hot Georgia summers, and we’re excited to add it to the list of amenities for this beautiful park,” said Jeff Stowe, Hall County District 4 Commissioner, in whose district the park sits.
Butler Park, located at 1370 Athens Street in Gainesville, officially opened for public use in December, and work was completed on the spray ground this spring.
“The community was anxious to take advantage of the pavilion and park area, and having a secondary opening for the spray ground provided us with another opportunity to celebrate and bring the community together,” said Becky Ruffner, Hall County Parks and Leisure marketing and public relations specialist.
The Newtown Florist Club echoed those sentiments.
“The Newtown Florist Club’s E.E. Butler Core Committee is elated over the opening of the spray grounds Saturday, May 27,” said Andre’ Cheek-Castleberry, chair of the E.E. Butler Core Committee. “I’m personally inviting everyone in the Hall County area to come out and enjoy this amazing experience.”
The event is free and open to the public. Additional free parking for the event will be available at Fieldale on Athens Street and New Life Missionary Baptist Church on Harrison Drive.
