The Explorer Program is a career based program with the purpose of providing young men and women the opportunity to learn and experience the fire service. Meetings are held where the participants train very much like the recruits in the Fire Academy. This training consists of classroom time, but most of the training will be hands-on.
The ultimate goal of the Explorer Program is to earn the privilege of participating in "ride alongs". This gives the members of the Explorer Post the opportunity to be at the stations with the crews and respond to calls and assist at emergency scenes.
Explorers are open to young men and women ages 14 (completed the 8th grade) and not yet 21 years old with an interest in learning more about careers in the field of Fire and Emergency Services.
Application and Fee required Uniforms and equipment are provided Meetings are held at the Hall County Fire Services Training Center 2801 Allen Creek Drive, Gainesville GA For more information contact the Training Division by phone at 770-297-5509.
