Jerry Smith, Administrative Chief of Support Services, supervises the Business Services and Planning and Preparedness divisions for the department. These divisions comprise fiscal services, procurement, EMS administration, EMS revenue, fire prevention, inspections, and investigations. Chief Smith began his career with Hall County Fire Services in October 1992 as an entry level firefighter and EMT. In 1994 he completed his paramedic training at Lanier Technical Institute. Chief Smith made the move from operations to administration in 1995 to serve as the department's Quartermaster. Since then he has served as Professional Standards Officer, Division Chief-Administration, and Battalion Chief – Business Services. Chief Smith is a graduate of West Georgia College where he earned both a B.A. and M.A. degrees in psychology.
