On March 13, 2012, at approximately 5:30 AM, Sheriff's Deputies and Investigators responded to the 1700 block of Meadowview Drive, in Gainesville, regarding a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, Deputies discovered that a male subject had been shot one time in the back.
The victim, 22 year-old Wayne Adam Shaw, of Gainesville, reported that he was approached by two unknown black males brandishing handguns and demanding money, and when he turned to flee the subjects began firing at him.
The victim was struck one time in the upper back area, and was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that Mr. Shaw was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for animal cruelty. As a result, Mr. Shaw was arrested upon completion of his treatment and booked into the Hall County Jail, where he is being held on a $1,000 bond.
No one else was injured during the incident, and no further information is available regarding the suspects.
The incident remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Criminal Investigations Division.
