Police Services

Woodrow Tripp The Police Services Division, under the command of acting Major Woodrow Tripp, provides uniform patrol, investigative law enforcement services, and crime prevention programs to the county, in addition to overseeing the operations of the department's specialized units. Police Services is comprised of Uniform Patrol, Criminal Investigations, and Crime Prevention divisions.

Major Tripp has served with the Sheriff's Office since 2005, and is a retired Atlanta Police Commander and 33 year law enforcement veteran. He serves as one of the department's hostage negotiators and is also the senior polygraph examiner for the department. He was the Intelligence Commander during the 1996 Olympic Games and was a consultant to the Atlanta Olympic Organizing Committee. In addition to his law enforcement background, Major Tripp is a Veteran of the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division. His extensive experience in law enforcement operations and criminal investigations is particularly well suited to the position of Police Services Commander.
