The Enforcement Bureau, under the command of Major John Latty, encompasses the Uniform Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Special Operations, Reserve, and Training divisions.
Prior to joining the Hall County Sheriff's Office in 2013, Major Latty retired as assistant chief of the Gwinnett County Police Department after 25 years of service. He completed the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College in 1998 and served as an adjunct professor and lecturer for Columbus State University in the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College for 12 years. He is a lifelong resident of Hall County and a 1970 graduate of South Hall High School. He is a graduate of Gainesville Junior College, North Georgia College, and Columbus State University, where he received his master's degree in public administration. Major Latty also served as a U.S. Army military policeman for three years.
