Sheriff's Citizen's Academy

The Hall County Sheriff's Office Citizens Academy is an interactive program designed to inform citizens about the role of the Sheriff's Office in our community and allow them to gain firsthand knowledge about the inner workings of the department. The program consists of fourteen sessions, conducted in both a classroom setting as well as a field demonstration format, with voluntary limited participation.

Upon acceptance into the program, participants can expect informative sessions that examine all aspects of the Sheriff's Office, presented by Officers that are among the department's most knowledgeable and well-trained staff.

While participants will be exposed to the exciting aspects of law enforcement work, they will also become familiarized with some of the processes that are much less glamorous but no less vital to the daily operation of the agency.

It should be noted that the Citizens Academy is an informational program only. At no time will participants be expected or permitted to act in a law enforcement capacity, and successful completion of the program does not certify them as a law enforcement officer in any way.

Citizens Academies are generally conducted each spring and fall. Please monitor the "Announcements" section of this website for the next class dates. With prior notification, reasonable accommodations can be provided to ensure access for people with disabilities.
