Licensed Hall County businesses may begin selling alcohol this Sunday, following final Board of Commissioners approval on Thursday. Hall County voters approved Sunday liquor-by-the-drink and package sales in the March 6 election, but county codes must be amended before the new law goes into effect. Following a review of the updated codes at today's work session, the Board is expected to approve the amendments at the April 26 meeting.
Changes to the county's alcohol codes will allow for Sunday sales of beer and wine from 12:30 - 11:30 p.m. either by package or consumption on the premises of a restaurant. Liquor may be sold by the drink, but not by package, due to restrictions in state law.
The amendments also reduce several licensing restrictions to bring the county in line with state requirements and allow more businesses to sell alcohol.
