The Hall County Fire Services collected $54,807.11 for the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation during its three-consecutive Saturday Give Burns The Boot drive back in October. On February 7, 2012 during the annual awards luncheon, the department’s efforts earned them 3rd place overall in the State. This was the department’s highest finish ever in the contest.
Hall County Fire Services was one of more than 100 fire departments throughout the State of Georgia that participated in the 21st annual Give Burns The Boot fund-raiser, benefiting the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation.
'As a State, over $780,000.00 was raised. The monies will assist the Burn Foundation in meeting its mission to provide support to burn survivors, burn units and fire departments in Georgia. We would like to thank the citizens of Hall County for their generous donations,' said Capt. Scott Cagle, Boot Drive coordinator. 'Monies collected not only assist the Burn Foundation but also our department,' said Cagle. An incentive of 10% of the total collected by each department is returned to the local fire department for fire prevention and safety efforts. This means Hall County Fire Services will receive over $5,400.00 for local fire and life safety education. Capt. Cagle says 'that is huge when you think about the limited budget we have to reach our 180,000+ citizens in the county.'
In its first 20 years, this event raised more than $9 million statewide for the Foundation.
Funds collected through the boot drive will be used to help support the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation's mission: to educate the public in burn awareness and prevention, to support medical facilities in the care of burns in Georgia, and to assist burn survivors in their recovery.
