On March 4th, 2011 at approximately 3:30 AM, a South Hall man was arrested outside of the Royal Lakes Club House building.
A Hall County Sheriff’s Deputy on routine patrol, conducting checks of business in South Hall, discovered a suspicious male subject behind the Royal Lakes Club House building. Upon making contact with the man, identified as Mr. Delaney Vandyke, the Deputy observed that he was carrying a knife in his hand, which he dropped when ordered to do so. Deputies also discovered a ladder that had been propped up against the building, but found no signs of forced entry.
Mr. Vandyke, having no reasonable business to be behind the building at 3:30 in the morning, was arrested without incident and booked into the Hall County Jail, charged with Loitering or Prowling.
As a matter of their regular duties, Hall County Deputies conduct “Business Checks” during their patrol shifts. Among other things, the Deputies will make a visual and physical inspection of the building’s entries and exits and investigate anything that seems out of the ordinary.
The incident remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigations Division.
