IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING FAMILY LAW INFORMATION CENTER REQUIREMENT AND HOURS

If you are representing yourself in a divorce, the Judge's office will not give you a final hearing date until you have visited the Family Law Information Center (FLIC). This requirement is designed to help you and the Court and reduce the likelihood of your case being delayed due to missing paperwork or a required step not being followed.

There are limited exceptions to this requirement (for example, if you request an appointment and do not qualify for FLIC's assistance). Even in these circumstances, however, the Judge's office will not assign a court date if you do not have the paperwork required to proceed. Call FLIC for more information.

• Appointments: *Starting May 23, 2011, FLIC is an all appointment system (due to high demand and to accommodate individual schedules).

How to schedule an appointment with FLIC Review Staff or the FLIC Attorney:
  • Print an appointment request form and read it carefully. We are only able to make appointments for divorce and legitimation (process where a father establishes rights if a child is born out of wedlock) and if you or the opposing party live in Hall or Dawson County. Complete the form and return it to FLIC in person (4th Floor of the Hall County Courthouse) or by fax at (770) 536-7924. Or, you may email the requested information. You will be contacted with instructions and an appointment time.

  • If you would like to request a FLIC Attorney consultation (typically 3-4 weeks wait), you will need to complete additional consultation paperwork (for a conflict check) and financially qualify in person. Start your request by printing the form linked above.

NOTICE REGARDING GEORGIA INCREASE
IN CIVIL FILING AND SERVICE FEES

• Effective May 19, 2010, the civil filing fee increased to $207.50. If sheriff's service is required, the fee is now $50.00.
