Northeastern Judicial Circuit
Family Law Information Center and Guardian ad Litem Program

Hall County Courthouse - 4th Floor

Family Law Information Center (FLIC)

Located on the fourth floor of the Hall County Courthouse (Rooms 459 and 460), the Northeastern Judicial Circuit Family Law Information Center (FLIC) provides assistance to individuals who represent themselves in divorce actions (pro se litigants). The Center also has resources and information available for individuals with non-divorce related family matters. As with all legal matters, it is strongly recommended that you obtain the services of an attorney.

Important information for individuals representing themselves in divorce actions in Hall or Dawson County:

  • Individuals filing for divorce in Hall County are required to visit FLIC before obtaining a Court date.
  • FLIC is open to walk-ins on a first come, first serve, basis from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
  • Appointments are available at other times for self-represented divorce litigants unable to visit FLIC during regular walk-in hours. One-time legal consultations are also available for self-represented individuals who have general legal questions about divorce. All appointments with the FLIC attorney are subject to a conflict check and income qualification.
  • The Northeastern Judicial Circuit's "Internal Operating Procedures for Domestic Relations Cases" is available here in PDF format for reference and information.
Call 770-531-2463 or stop in for more information or to schedule an appointment.

Guardian ad Litem (GAL) Program

The Northeastern Judicial Circuit Guardian ad Litem Program recruits, trains, and assists volunteer Guardians ad Litem (GALs) for Hall and Dawson County Superior Court cases where child custody and visitation are disputed. GALs are appointed by the Court in individual cases to serve as fact-finders and represent the best interests of the children. An appointed GAL will interview, visit and attend meetings with the parties/children involved in the case and submit his or her findings and recommendations to the Court. The GAL may also do any follow-up assignments ordered by the Court.

If you are an attorney and interested in serving as a volunteer Guardian ad Litem, please contact 770-533-7757.
