Clerk of Court - Duties
Custodian of court records, real estate records, fine collection
and disbursement, intangible and transfer tax collection and disbursement,
personal property records, notary public appointments, tradename
registration, adoptions, passports, traffic violations bureau. Public
assistance regarding all of the above.

The Judicial Division is responsible for receiving, filing, processing,
storing and retrieving civil and criminal records for the Superior
Court and reports to state agencies monthly regarding dispositions.
This division also provides support for all the Superior Court Judges
through the management of case files and, when necessary, the attendance
of court; which includes impaneling of jurors, swearing criminal juries,
assisting in selecting of juries and reading of verdicts at the end
of jury trials. This division also collects all fines and fees in Criminal/Civil cases.

The real estate division is responsible for receiving, recording,
processing, indexing and reproducing all documents related to real
estate, which includes receiving the fees and taxes due on these documents.
The uniform commercial code (U.C.C.) section requires recording, processing
and indexing records for serving public notice that personal properties
located within Hall County (equipment, furnishings, vehicles, corps,
ect.) have outstanding liens on them.

This division includes, but is not limited to appeals, adoptions,
FI FAs (which is a document that authorizes the seizure of property
to satisfy a judgement), hospital liens, foreign judgments, tradenames,
limited partnerships, notary public commissions, miscellaneous court
orders, appointments, Grand Jury presentments and funds paid into
the registry of the court as directed by the court and accounting/bookkeeping.

The functions for the judicial division of State Court are the same
as Superior Court, except that criminal misdemeanor cases are processed
on a larger scale. This office also collects all court costs, bench
warrant costs, bond forfeiture costs, cash bonds and fines and makes
numerous monthly reports to state agencies.

This division includes, but is not limited to appeals to the Supreme
Court or Court of Appeals, FI FAs, miscellaneous court orders,
and accounting/bookkeeping.

This division files traffic cases only, on an even larger scale than
State Court and makes disposition reports to the Department of Public
Safety, receives driver history printouts on all citations, collects
fines, costs and partial payments.
