The use and condition of a property on January 1 are used to determine
value for that tax year. These factors as well as ownership on January
1 are used to determine eligibility for exemptions.
The Tax Assessor's Office begins accepting Property Tax Returns
for both Real Estate and Business Personal Property.
The Tax Assessor's Office begins accepting applications for Property
Tax Exemptions (churches, charities, etc.) and other exemptions
such as Conservation Use and Rehabilitated Historic Properties.
The Tax Assessor's Office begins accepting applications for Homestead
Exemption.
· MARCH 1
Deadline for filing all Property Tax Returns.
Deadline for applying for Property Tax Exemptions (churches, charities,
etc.) and other exemptions such as Conservation Use and Rehabilitated
Historic Properties.
Deadline for filing Homestead Exemption in the Tax Assessor's Office for the current tax year. You must be living in the property as of Jan. 1 to qualify. Homestead Exemptions and all other exemptions excluding Conservation Use Exemption applications may be filed year round but if filed after March 1 will apply to next year's tax statements.
· Mid-APRIL
Assessment Change Notices are mailed.
· Mid-MAY
Deadline for appealing the Assessment Change Notice.
Deadline is 30 days from date Notice mailed. See Notice for exact
deadline date.
· Mid-JUNE
Hall County Tax Digest is submitted to the State Department of Revenue.
Upon Digest approval by the State, the Tax Commissioner's Office
can bill and collect property taxes. Approval is usually received
within one week of submission.
· October
Property Tax Bills are mailed and are payable to the Tax Commissioner
60 days from post mark of mailing.
