Economic Development

Hall County has a dynamic, expanding, solid and diversified community, with a strong and diverse economic base. It is the epicenter of an aggressive economic environment in northeast Georgia.
The top three employment sectors in Gainesville-Hall County are:
  1. Service (38.6%)
  2. Manufacturing (14.03%)
  3. Retail (13.84%)
Known for its warm climate and southern hospitality, Hall County is home to over forty-seven Fortune 500 firms, more than 300 manufacturing and processing concerns, and forty international companies representing ten foreign countries.

Ideally located in the center of one of the most vibrant business sectors in Georgia and the Southeast, the county features an infrastructure to support its diversified business environment. One of Hall County's newest corporate citizens is the Atlanta Falcons football team, which has built its new practice facility and headquarters in Flowery Branch.

Since 1990, Hall has experienced a 50% growth rate, therefore becoming an increasingly affluent business hub. The county seat of Gainesville is widely recognized as the trade, medical, educational, industrial, retail, cultural and recreation center of northeast Georgia. The county, along with its municipalities, boast a broad range of services, amenities and entertainment outlets that serve as major attractions for diversified business ventures.

Hall County, in conjunction with the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce, places a great emphasis on economic development efforts to ensure that our community will continue to diversify and prosper in the future. Continued success in attracting businesses such as Biotech companies, telecommunications, technology manufacturers, software developers, and tech support industries, help support the expansion of existing technology-related industries that are already located in Hall County. Recently announced expansions have generated some 1700 new jobs and nearly $90 million in capital investments.

Agribusiness remains strong here and many allied industries locate in Hall to manufacture and distribute related products throughout Georgia, the nation and across the world. With Hall leading the way, Georgia has been one of the top poultry producing states in the nation since 1957. Hall County generates more than $720 million in poultry related products and services annually, and leads the state in diversified farm production. Hall is the first county in Georgia to adopt a farm zone for certain county areas.
