It is often a difficult task in maintaining the balance between the rights of individuals and the welfare of the general public when enforcing the codes. Our goal is voluntary compliance of the codes before pursuing further action.

The most common ordinances we are responsible for enforcing are:
17.260.010. Zoning - Outdoor Storage - Junk Items
Old appliances, scrap materials, building materials, parts to machinery and similar type items must be stored inside an enclosed building in all zoning districts with the exception of districts AR-III and AR-IV. In districts AR-III and AR-IV such items must be stored in such a manner so as not to be visible from roadway or surrounding properties.
17.260.010. Zoning - Outdoor Storage - Inoperable Vehicles
Non-operable vehicles shall be stored inside an enclosed building in all zoning districts with the exception of AR-III and AR-IV. In districts AR-III and AR-IV all outdoor storage and/or inoperable vehicles must be stored in such a manner so as not to be visible from roadway or surrounding properties.
5.10.010. Business License
Business license renewals are due January 1st of every year. The license must be displayed in a conspicuous place. Only the business type described on the license is allowed.
It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to dump, deposit, throw or leave or to cause or permit the dumping, depositing, placing, throwing or leaving of litter on any public or private property or waters of Hall County. The litter is placed into a proper receptacle or container installed on such property.
17.20.1370. Yard Sale
Yard sales may be held no more than four times in a calendar year, with each individual sale lasting no more than three consecutive days. All merchandise must be the property of the person(s) holding the sale and not be purchased for the purpose of resale. The term also includes garage sales, basement sales, or other similar usage.
8.60.300.b Deposit or storage of junk
It shall be unlawful to place, abandon, leave, keep or store junk and salvage material, including non-functioning motor vehicles, appliances, machinery, equipment or parts thereof, out of doors upon any public or private land except in accordance with zoning regulations.
