Per a recent press release from the Georgia Department of Revenue Motor Vehicle Division, the vendor responsible for mailing the registration renewal notices has been presented with operational and production related issues and is unable to fulfill their contractual obligations. Although the vendor notified tax commissioners that October renewals were being mailed on Sept. 18, based on communications with several counties, it has become apparent that renewals, notices and some property tax notices (if handled by this vendor) were not mailed until late last week.
"Renewal notices are a courtesy reminder mailing that we have been fortunate enough to have approved in our budget. Though tax commissioners are not required to offer this service, we believe it is a good arrangement for our residents as we realize that sometimes life gets busy and we forget," said Hall County Tax Commissioner Darla Eden.
As a friendly reminder, all registrations expire at midnight on the birthday of the primary owner. Failure to receive a renewal notice does not negate the expiration date.
Eden also wishes to
remind taxpayers that her office offers five ways to renew motor
vehicle registrations. Taxpayers may renew online at tax.hallcounty.org or visit the DOR website https://mvd.dor.ga.gov/tags/
