10/8/2014 TC Press Release for Delinquent Tax payer names on TV18
PRESS RELEASE: TV 18 to air names of those delinquent on personal property tax Hall County Tax Commissioner Darla Eden said to avoid having their name appear on TV 18, delinquent taxpayers must pay the tax owed in full for 2013 and any years prior to 2013. ''I feel confident that this added incentive, our continued partnership with the Hall County Marshals' Office, and our cooperation with the Hall County Business License department will increase the collection of unpaid personal property tax in the county,'' said Eden. The Tax Commissioner's Office mailed a letter to delinquent personal property taxpayers last week, letting them know that if their delinquent tax is not paid in full by Oct. 17, a tax collection firm will proceed with the levy process for the personal property in question. The letter also informs the recipient that their name or the name of their business (whichever is delinquent) will be released to TV 18 for air if unpaid tax is not paid in full. TV 18 is carried on channel number 180 for Charter Communications customers and on channel number 23 for Comcast Communications customers. Eden encourages anyone with a delinquent balance, as defined by owing tax prior and through 2013-- not the current 2014 statements, to contact her office to verify the current amount due as interest and other charges may have accrued since the letter was mailed. She said anyone who has recently filed for bankruptcy or has additional questions is also encouraged to contact her office at (770) 531-6950 for more information. The Hall County Tax Commissioner's Office is located on the first floor of the Hall County Government Center, 2875 Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville.
