Special Operations

The Special Operations division is responsible for conducting all Sheriff's Office operations that fall outside the normal capabilities of Uniform Patrol or Criminal Investigations. Commanded by Captain Joe Carter, the division is comprised of the following units:
  1. A.D.V.A.N.C.E.

    The Hall County Sheriff’s Office ADVANCE unit offers proactive strategies to enhance protective factors for young people.

  2. Crime Suppression Unit

    The Crime Suppression Unit (GRID) is a uniformed patrol section responsible for concentrated patrols in high crime areas and locations where crime trends may have seen a localized increase.

  3. Hall County Search Team

    The Hall County Sheriff's Office participates in a cooperative effort with the Hall County Emergency Management Search Team and the Georgia Search and Rescue Council to comprise the Hall County Search Team.

  4. Honor Guard

    The Hall County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard serves as the ceremonial unit of the department.

  5. K-9 Unit

    The Hall County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit consists of handler / working dog teams assigned to all divisions of the department.

  6. Marine Patrol

    The Marine Patrol Unit conducts safety and enforcement patrols, and also assists the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and U.S. Army Corp of Engineers with law enforcement and security of bridges and dams on Lake Lanier.

  7. School Resource Officer Unit

    The Hall County Sheriff's Office School Resource Officer Unit offers proactive strategies to enhance protective factors for young people.

  8. SWAT

    The SWAT team provides the department with enhanced crisis resolution capabilities that are not normally available to Uniform Patrol.

  9. Traffic Enforcement

    Traffic Enforcement Unit is tasked with making the roads and highways of our community safe for the citizens and visitors of Hall County.

  10. Underwater Search & Rescue

    The Hall County Sheriff's Office Underwater Search and Rescue Unit is tasked with the recovery of drowning victims and the search for and recovery of evidence of crimes.
